Scholarship information

  • Grade Level: Undergraduate seniors or students who are currently pursuing master's or doctoral degrees.

  • Academic Requirements: Be enrolled in full-time or part-time study at an American university for the full academic year.

  • Citizenship:  U.S. citizens only.

  • Major: Must be enrolled, accepted or will pursue graduate study in audiology or speech-language pathology.

  • Ethnicity: Members who identify as African American, Alaska Native, American Indian, Asian and/or Hispanic.

  • Transcript: A transcript is required. Informal ones are accepted. 

  • Resume: Required.

  • Essay: Applicants must prepare an essay (PDF file, limit 1000 words, 12-point font, single-spaced) addressed to the Scholarship Review Committee wherein the applicant should describe his/her goals after completing his/her academic program and explain why these goals were chosen. 

  • Other materials: For applicants who will begin their graduate studies in the Fall 2020, please include a copy of your acceptance letter. For undergraduate applicants, please supply proof of observation hours or include a letter of recommendation from one of your previous professors. 

  • Deadline: August 31, 2020 at 5:00PM PST.

More Than Words LLC established the Dr. Sulayman Nyang Memorial Scholarship in memory of Dr. Sulayman Nyang Sr. and his lifelong commitment to serving others in his community. The Dr. Sulayman Nyang scholarship is available to students with financial need who demonstrate leadership qualities and a strong work ethic. At this time, two scholarships worth $1000 are available to help cover tuition, room and board, or books.
